Don't Breathe 2 (2021) is a sequel to the 2016 thriller Don't Breathe. It continues the story of Norman Nordstrom (played by Stephen Lang), the blind but deadly ex-Navy SEAL.

Plot Summary

Eight years after the first film, Norman is living in relative peace with an 11-year-old girl named Phoenix, whom he raises as his daughter. He tells her that her mother died in a house fire and is very protective, rarely letting her leave the house.

One night, a group of criminals breaks into Norman's home, attempting to kidnap Phoenix. After a violent struggle, they succeed in taking her, revealing that their leader, Raylan, is actually Phoenix’s biological father. They claim her real mother is alive but dying, and she needs a heart transplant, with Phoenix as the intended donor.

Norman, despite his blindness, goes on a relentless and brutal mission to rescue Phoenix. He tracks the gang to an abandoned hotel, where he kills the criminals one by one. In the final battle, Norman is severely wounded but manages to defeat Raylan. Before dying, he confesses to Phoenix that he is not a good man, but he always tried to protect her.

Phoenix, now free, chooses to move on and start a new life instead of staying with Norman’s violent legacy.

Themes & Reception

Unlike the first movie, where Norman was more of an antagonist, Don't Breathe 2 tries to redeem him by showing a softer, protective side. However, the film received mixed reviews—some praised its intense action and Stephen Lang’s performance, while others criticized it for trying to make Norman a sympathetic character despite his dark past.
